Galway 2.20

By Irish Racing (MG)

MICHAEL - Galway 2.20 - Handicap Hurdle - 3 miles and 1/2 furlong - Soft > Heavy

A fair few of these have already had runs this week and indeed the favourite at the time of writing We'llhavewon has raced on Tuesday and Thursday for Williw Mullins and not looked like winning and I can't see any form of reason why 3 miles on soft would change that. It's Willie Mullins so if you follow him blind then good luck.

I'm more more confident about CALL THE TUNE and hopefully the Mullins horse will stay in to stretch the price on this one, Good runs and a win at Navan and Fairyhouse over 3 miles in the mud suggest the trip and conditions will be no problem, it's on a nice mark, has had a prep run and has all the hallmarks of being a "plotted race".

PURE SIRLOIN strikes me as being in with a very similar chance too, it's had a 4 month break, has run very well off a 3 month break, runs off a nice mark and it's telling I think that they have waited for today and not shown their hand earlier in the week or in recent weeks. I'll be disappointed if this one isn't bang in contention.

The likes of Junior Rattler would have a chance if staying, Killinure Lass is one of a few in the TRACKER and has a lot of appeal but I just think this one will need the run and may need a few pounds off the handicapper too, Peaches And Cream is another who may need the run and better ground.

I wouldn't rule out the 2 reserves King Ferdinand or Meindee (both Trackers) if getting a run but at bigger Odds I really do think that both MY DESIGN who likes to run prominently at anything from 2 and a half to over 3 miles could lead them a merry dance for a long way here and FIVEAFTERMIDNIGHT who has an abundance of stamina and who will have come on for a recent run and who has form from 2 miles and 6 furlongs to over 4 miles may just be the type to take advantage IF My Design gets the fractions wrong and the race falls apart up the hill. They therefore look like nice shrapnel bets with a tactical mindset.
