Uttoxter 3.16 - 2 miles 7 1/2 furlongs - Handicap Hurdle - 13 run - Soft...

This could well be a race that we come back to time and time again, certainly before Christmas, as stacked full of good quality Handicappers.

Most have seasonal debut, and few if any have any discernible form that suggests they are best caught fresh. In short, it's wise to think most will need and benefit from the run. It's entirely possible that a few may disprove the theory, but I want to focus on a pair who are race fit and well handicapped and in form

DAGUENEAU ran very well last time over Course and Distance. Looks likely to come on for the run and from a Yard that we pointed out 5-6 years ago always seems to start the season well. Many have cottoned on to that since so their horses can be "Over bet" but certainly this one has an outstanding chance. If you can get 4/1 or better and want to take a place saver, feel free to do so, otherwise a straight win bet.

Of the remainder, the one who most caught the eye is SIROBBIE who has excellent Course and Distance credentials, fit and a few pounds above best CD win mark but that fitness I think mitigates that in the specific conditions of the race today. I don't think he'd get near to half a dozen of these if they'd had a run, so fitness is the way in.

Kelso 5.10 Handicap Hurdle - Class 5 - 2miles 5 furlongs - 13 run - Good (some rain and could turn soft)

This is a much lower Grade and as such the 2 at the top of the market are logically there but may be vulnerable to one on a Going day. I will therefore try to take on Cillurid and Made For You and seek some each way value.

Again, fitness is a key element to the thinking as many may need the run and others are simply never going to win a race, on what we've seen so far.

ACHILL ROAD BOY is a veteran plodder. He drops in trip here but often runs prominently to this kind of trip over 3 miles or a bit further and then fades. I think that if they run as if it's a 3 mile race then the fractions here could be ideal and he'll simply run to the line and pick up a place at least and has assured fitness.

At bigger Odds, CULLY MAC caught my eye, could sneak a place on a few bits of form and lurks off a nice mark with a bit of fitness.
