Newbury 1.50

THE ADVISOR - Newbury 1.50 Apprentice Handicap - 1 mile 2 furlongs - Class 5 - 13 run - Good (Watered and sis have some thunderstorm rain too)

 

Mrs Meader won a division of this race last year and would be the one they all have to beat, the mark just puts me off though at the price and I also think that Tele Red and Tessylad are at the high end of their handicap range too now after some good solid form. Those 3 will take all the beating though and I wouldn't put anyone off a small T/Cast Perm on them. A couple of others would be BIG dangers on known form IF fit after a break but on balance both Point Louise and Luna Magic may both just benefit from these runs off breaks of 215 and 148 days respectively.

 

Lennys Spirit and FILLY FUDGE would have sporting e/w enhanced places and if you wanted a bit of shrapnel at big odds then Amy Murphy's FILLY FUDGE  gets the right trip, suitable Going and in the mid 50's has been given a chance too by the handicapper.

 

The pair I most like though and with some expectant confidence are KINGS CASTLE who won the other Division of this race last year off a mark of 64. it runs off 67 here and the price discrepancy with Mrs Meader is a tad baffling . I'll be disappointed if KINGS CASTLE doesn't make a very bold bid to follow up. ERMIN STREET seems to be running in to some form after a few runs and just looks primed off a mark of 64 and another at decent odds who really has no obvious excuses and weaknesses IF it runs its race.
