Leicester 6.15

Leicester 6.15 - Handicap - Class 6 - 1 mile 4 Furlongs Good to Firm - 16 run

A competitive race over 12 furlongs and with the stillf uphill finish here and downhill run in to the final bend it's a place where I do like some proven Course form as the newcomer can race too freely in the opening stages and throw away any chance of ultimate victory.

At the head of the market Act Of Magic has yet to fully convince me at this trip on a stiff track like this and whilst I fear Competition on the back of a recent Course and Distance win I am yet to be convinced it's one that can run up any kind of sequence.

I was left with 3 others who were of major interest and Loch Ness Monster who was beaten by one of the selections here last time and gets a 1lb pull for a 2 length margin will be a danger for the Mick Appleby Team but just not quite enough to convince me.

It was ICE CANYON who beat it here last time on the way to a solid runner up spot and off the same mark of 60 here and fit and in form I do  think it's a bit over-priced so we'll hope to take advantage.

One who could improve is Alan King's DANKING, it can run freely but the Booking of Martin Harley to replace the Trainers daughter suggests to me that they have identified it needs slightly stronger handling and if Harley can get the horse to settle a little better enough in the form and visual evidence to suggest he can eek out the few pounds of improvement needed.
