Sunday 15th June - RIP Sean
15 June 2025
Very sadly; late yesterday afternoon we were informed of the sudden and very sad death of one of our core Tipsters "Sean aka Placespotter".
We had been aware for a few months that Sean was not in the best of health, but were not fully aware of the degree of the issue until around a week ago. Sean recorded his final selections on Monday and we were aware he was going into Hospital for some further surgery. Very sadly that surgery found an inoperable and fast growing tumour, however, the speed of Sean's decline shocked his family, lovely wife Marie and two children and recently arrived grandchild to the core. Sadly Sean passed peacefully surrounded by his family and a few close friends at around 5pm yesterday afternoon. A staunch and passionate Catholic man passionate about his Rugby Union and Soccer and with his Robbie Keane and Brian O'Driscoll tattoos showing his sporting allegiance to the Country he loved.
At his best Sean, as longer subscribed members will know, was "a license to print money" , like all Tipsters he had his ebbs and flows, but on his A-game, there was no better Irish Tipster in my opinion. The loss to his family is incalculable, his loss to us as a friend, a constant source of craic and his intimate knowledge of his chosen sporting love, I cannot really quantify right now as we are in complete shock. There are rare occasions when writing is cathartic and helps to expose and release either incredible joy or desperate sadness, and the fact is that the latter is obviously the case right now.
We planned 3 tips today, a couple were in Ireland but Sean's close friend and colleague "Michael" has respectfully asked us not to produce them as a mark of respect. I have no doubt that Michael will now seek in time to produce the sort of results that will be a lasting testament to his friend, but not now and only when he is ready.
With ROYAL ASCOT imminent, and with the consent of Michael and Sean's son who called me with the terrible news, WE WILL return ON TUESDAY and we will deliver one or two final tips from Sean that his son Dan has asked us to pass on, tips he discussed with his dad on Thursday for 2 of the big betting heats of the week.
I sincerely hope that you will understand and accept that today and tomorrow we cannot tip , both out of respect and frankly numbness and shock.
Life is precious. Today is Father's day, there is so much hatred and evil in the world right now, so we send love and respect and our best wishes for the family of a great father, a great grandfather, a warm gregarious and beautiful person and someone we will never forget.
RIP SEAN!
With a sad heart and tears flooding out of both eyes, bye for now.
