YARMOUTH 4.25 - Class 4 Handicap - 1 mile - 13 run - Good to Soft

There are showers about and a lot of AW form here and of those with Turf form the majority would definitely prefer it to be genuinely Good or Good to Firm ground. It is very early still in the flat season but a couple stand out, one on potential and the other on rock solid, if exposed Handicap form on this sort of ground.

ELLADONNA started off in a 10 furlong race on Turf and Salisbury, has since shown promise on the AW but I don't perceive any stamina issues here and the run at Salisbury suggests slightly soft Turf really should not be an excuse. At the other end of the experience scale and of the early market is SHOT OF LOVE who is AW fit, likes to run from or near the front and who could really get some of those with dubious stamina and a preference for firmer underfoot conditions at it early, and probable if they get the fractions right it can stay on for a place here. CATTERICK 6.20 - Handicap Class 6 - 1 mile 6 furlongs Soft - 14 run

I narrowed this down to half a dozen but think that Cold Henry is probably best at 2 miles and might just need this, Stolen Encounter is OK on the AW but makes Turf debut here and Lord Tarranga is one who regularly places at up to 2miles but hasn't won a race in ages.

At a very big price, I would certainly have a look at FREEWHEELIN who gets 2 miles on the AW but for whom this trip could be idealon turf , off a very nice mark of 46 when you look at decent turf efforts off a mark of 51, and worth a small poke.

My top 2 rated though are TARBAT NESS for John Ryan and Billy Loughnane who ticks all the right boxes and who frankly looks very sold here and at a bigger price, I really quietly confidently think that A DAY TO DREAM is over-priced and with a 12 furlong win and proven at up to 2 miles is another for whom 14 furlongs may be ideal and well worth a poke after a warm up run.
