Tuesday 17th December
Catterick 2.30 Mares Handicap Hurdle - Class 5 - 2 miles 3 and 1/2 - 15 run - Good to Soft
The one to beat may be Apples Moon with form figures of 1-2-1 up 5lbs more here with the in form James bowen in the saddle, she beat Vanilla Sky into 3rd place at Sedgefield recently and both have excellent claims. For those that like a side bet I would suggest a small reverse f/cast to cover them off.
Rhiannon Ring has suspect form but the booking of Brian Hughes catches the eye and Belle No Bann would be a danger possibly over a furlong or two less than this. Our Pink Lady seems to thrive at Southwell and in the Spring but off a break of 189 days can't be underestimated from an in-form Yard.
I am adding Wrappedinroubles to the TRACKER from today, a horse with a promising 3 mile P2P background who should pay her way for Donald McCain. At very big odds On We Go has shown minor promise between fairly lengthy breaks.
I think though that there is sporting each way value at double figure odds here in MALINA OCARINA who is a race winner off marks in the mid 80's and who runs off 87 here on Going that should not be too soft for her and BRIDGETJOANS a runner up over Course and Distance off a mark of 92 in February on soft ground who gets first time cheekpieces just to sharpen her up (hopefully) off an eye catching mark of 86 with a 7lbs Claimer up. Wincanton 3.45 Mares Handicap Hurdle - Class 4 - 2 miles 4 furlongs - 11 run - Good to Soft
A tight market at the top end with Imperial Jade who was a shade unlucky last time the one to beat but not strong enough I don't think for a win bet suggestion. Sweet Caryline gets a 6lbs penalty for an all out Class 5 win at Fontwell, Linda Moon may prefer a shorter trip and firmer ground and Jaminska may also have been unlucky last time but doesn't jump off the page at me.
The veteran Just Go For it may do exactly that and run a big race but at similar decent double figure Odds I'm quietly confident that both TIME IN THE SUN whose best run was a prominent runner up effort over Course and distance in February and for whom Sam Twiston-Davies may well adopt the same tactics again here, and LOVE OF NEYMORE who will come on for a spin over Fences (first time Chasing) last time out but whose Hurdle form culminated in an all the way win at Chepstow in the Spring off a mark only 3 lbs lighter than today when the Claim is taken in to account. As long as these pair don't take each other on to excess and get the fractions right , they could take a lot of pegging back at the front. (Robin)
