Sandown 6.12

ROBIN - Sandown 6.12 - Handicap - Class 5 - 1 mile 2 furlongs - 13 run - Going Good / Good to Firm

This is quite a stamina test as they start in a small chute right at the top end of the back straight and can get carried away running slightly downhill for the majority of the race before turning in and up the relatively steep climb to the finish.

A lot don't have any real proven form at the trip and of those many pedigrees suggest that it might not be an ideal trip for them up a demanding finish like this.

I think NIGHT ARC is well worth following after a 374 day break and a win at the Distance at Leicester (a very similar Track configuration) would suggest 10 furlong should be ideal for this one. It returns off a break with a 4lbs penalty so on balance a possible big danger but may just need the run. It's gone in the TRACKER this morning (famous last words!)

Brunos Gold should ensure a solid and decent pace and is the type that can always slip a field if just getting the fractions right, Lady Reset may need the run and probably needs further than this, ALDBOURNE came very close to a selection here, the Yard is in form, you can ignore seasonal debut on account of the heavy Going but it's 8lbs above its last win mark and just missed out. The one they all clearly have to beat is SILASTAR who romped home by 12 lengths lst time, gets an 8lbs penalty and if you want to take 2/1 then well worth a win saver. (I'm going to play a reverse F/Cast with those pair to cover off a couple of confident each way pokes).

I really like the look of MAGICAL MILE here, a Distance winner four times last season off marks between 65 and 72 and a Yard that slowly and quietly improves year on year and remains a little under the radar. It will have benefitted from a quiet return run but 75 should not be a mark that should be beyond it and I'd be hopeful of a place finish at least. NONSUCH LAD brings some very solid Course and Distance form with wins off 60 and 64 least season, another who will benefit from a pipe opener recently and William Buick is an interesting booking tonight. I'll be disappointed if both of these aren't in the first 4 finishers.

TIPS (1) Magical Mile / (2) Nonsuch Lad (see notes re win saver and reverse forecast above).
