(Sean) Gowran Park 5.50
SEAN - Gowran Park 5.50 - Handicap - 1 mile - 16 run - Good to Yielding
A lowish draw can be an advantage here but plenty of space to find a pitch to the right hand bend and then round the corner and up the tough hill. You'd ideally want to be prominent but the market seems to have focussed on a few who look under-priced to me.
Derry Lad has good Course form, Hot Bell may need the run today, Lady Leonora drops in trip and gets a hefty penalty and may also need the run and Plunkett and The Mpex Kid are very short for me despite recent AW form.
I'd not put you off a bit of shrapnel each way with enhanced places on either ANGELS TRUMPET or ACCESSORY. Angels Trumpet intrigues me as its already had 2 turf runs over an inadequate 6 furlongs and then at 7 furlongs, a mile id its best trip and it won at it off 57 last year and was runner up off a mark of 61. It's clearly going to have a turf fitness advantage and off 53 is very well handicapped, the niggle is Box 17!. Accessory is drawn in 3 and has had an AW run and has good Course form so is competitive off a mark of 58.
My main pair though are TAKE MY HAND, drawn in stall 6, is AW fit, has a win mark of 57 on turf and it likes to run prominently, can't find any flaws with this one other than it may need it a bit softer, but its not going to b drying out much and there should be a lovely swathe of grass too. The other one is DUTCH SCHAEFER who has a Course and Distance win off a mark of 58, leading all the way on that occasion. It's another who is AW fit (a run 47 days ago) and off a mark of 65 with a 7lbs claim is bang on it's winning mark at nice Odds drawn in Stall 7.
I wouldn't rule out Plugged In with a run, a very dangerous first reserve!
TRACKERS - Take My Hand + Dutch Schaefer (shrapnel if you wish on Accessory + Angels Trumpet)
