Fairyhouse 3.15
MICHAEL - Fairyhouse 3.15 Handicap Hurdle -2 miles 5 and 1/2 furlongs - 22 run - Soft
A lot are in contention here and 4 are in the Tracker, I can't raise too much enthusiasm for Haxo, Jaycean or Drop The Anchor today but they will be winning easier assignments at some point. The one i think has a squeak of some each way shrapnel out of the 4 is A GREAT VIEW a veteran always capable of running to its mark and with rain likely one who may run on at nice Odds in to an enhanced place.
Highland Charge at 33/1 is one who has a few bits of form that suggest it may be over-priced and worth a look. Heia and Hubrisko are both unexposed Mullins horses who need to improve on known form but who both have the scope to do so but are basically in the "could be anything" category. Cadatharia at the top of the market will struggle to win this off a further penalty despite some excellent form and Ottoman Style too is another who may have been weighted out of this by the handicapper and Unanswered is one who may not appreciate the rain.
I was left with 4 in my final list and the 4th rated and worth a small bet in the conditions (if soft) is Ailie Rose. A horse with proven stamina and capable in softer ground of a big run in to a place.
The top 3 for me were actually very strongly rated highest and are EYE VAN, WHATSAVAILABLE and PAPAL LODGE.
EYE VAN is ridden by Rachel Blackmore and was eye-catching over 3 miles here when running prominently for a very long way before fading in the final couple of furlongs. I think that sighter will have helped them to understand that tactically this race over 2 miles 5 and 1/2 furlongs could be absolutely ideal, either from the front or with a hold up ride just off the pace. WHATSAVAILABLE has very good Course form and looks primed for this and is probably 1/2 a stone better round here than any other track, PAPAL LODGE is up 7lbs for beating WHATSAVAILABLE last time but Peter Faheys recruit from the Elliott yard may have found the perfect home from which to fulfil undoubted potential that had stagnated a bit in Elliotts vast Barns.
TIPS (1) Eye Van / (2) Whatsavailable / (3) Papal Lodge (see notes re Ailie Rose @ 18/1 / A Great View @ 25/1 and Highland Charge @ 66/1 in that preference order if you wish)
