Uttoxeter 2.45
THE ADVISOR - Uttoxeter 2.45 Handicap Chase - Class 2 - 3 miles - 12 run - Good to Soft
A decent and competitive race where after looking at every runner I was left with 3 that I feel particularly confident about and two that I'll invest in.
Fuji Flight won off marks of 120 and 127 last season but has struggled this and runs off 128 here, the Yards horses are just running so inconsistently at the moment as we saw yesterday that I think this one is best left alone for now. Crosspark would have strong claims on its peak form of 2020/21 but is 13 years old now and I think one best left until it can drop a Grade or two and find a new level. Risk And Roll runs its first Chase for the best part of 2 years so best watched today. Wayfinder intrigues me enough to have added to the TRACKER, it finished last season with wins off 112 and 118, started this season with a win off 122 and then Pulled Up in better races the last twice. Its now running off 128 and one I think could pop up in a month or so somewhere and win a nice prize.
Commodore is another from Venetia Williams yard who is currently impossible to fathom with any confidence, De Rasher Counter has been a great servant and Course and Distance form but the handicapper has been very slow to cut him any slack and he was one I just left off the list in the final analysis. Gatapan Collonges drops in trip and ran well over further last time but all its best form is in more attritional ground and it may just get run off its feet a little here. Bangers And Cash has won a couple of races off marks of 116 and 125, going up to 132. At the price I simply noted all the wins were right handed and that put me off an investment at the price at a higher mark and Grade. Mister Coffey looks the one to beat for Henderson but it's found one too good on 4 of its last 5 runs and I'm not sure it'll like the ground here. At the price I'm happy to swerve it BUT I am going to add it to my Cheltenham Trackers as it was a runner up there last season and could be a nice handicapper to follow in the right big field race there.
I was left with three and just leave out DUBLIN FOUR it stayed on well over 3 miles at Doncaster last time after some jumping errors and that jumping frailty is its only achilles heel, it's one who can win a race like this with a clear and accurate round of jumping but in the final analysis I just preferred two above it.
JIMMY THE DIGGER is a Course winner, Yard in form as we saw yesterday, its won off 115 and placed off 125 and very lightly raced for its age, I'll be disappointed if it doesn't win this and the one i think will give it most to do is another in the Tracker who is BURROWS DIAMOND, Sue Smith has also been patient with this one and it has a Course win last January and ran well too at Doncaster last time improving for the 3 mile trip and I think it can progress further through the ranks.
TIPS - Jimmy The Digger + Burrows Diamond.
