Newbury 3.20
Newbury 3.20 Spring Cup Handicap - 1 mile - 17 run - Good
I think the market may dominate here but worth looking for some value.
They can run like an arrowhead down this mile with the centre holding sway and the others tucking in a slip streaming and there are a lot of the more fancied horses drawn low who may just have to jostle for early position and then to get the best run later in the race.
Of those at bigger Odds the only one of any mild interest may be Faheys NATIONAL LEAGUE, it's fit but really should not be winning this off a mark in the mid 80's but at big odds may sneak an enhanced place if the race falls apart.
Of the ones near the head of the market Daiyah is drawn in 6, the one to beat after a decent run in the Lincoln but at the price little value I think. MATTHEW FLINDERS for Ed Walker and Oisin Murphy is drawn 1 and holds solid claims as does the Hannon horse NUGGET ridden by the miserable one drawn in Stall 2; he's had a run and should be very competitive. RAAEQ for Meehan and O'Neill runs off top weight and on balance of form I don't think quite good enough.
The one I most like and drawn on the other side of the likely arrowhead is JOHAN for William Haggas and Jason Doyle. The 151 days off is not a concern as it started last season with a win off a break of 244 days, it has won over Course and Distance and Haggas will have had plenty of time on the Newmarket gallops which have been unseasonably dry to get this horse primed to win again first time out.
TIP - JOHAN (if you want a bit of shrapnel on National League - I wouldn't put you off)
