Saturday 25th November

A decent 3rd place for Merry Moves at Fairyhouse yesterday, well backed in from 33/1 to 12/1 on a quiet day and frankly today is very low on numbers, if not quality.

I keep banging on about the paucity of NH runners at Ascot, Sandown and Kempton compared to the prize money and high Class races on their Calendars and genuinely believe a significant number of NH Fixtures should be removed from these Courses and spread evenly around a fairer geographical spread and to Courses that have no problem attracting both big fields but also big local attendances. How about moving a few to Kelso, Hexham, Exeter, Hereford, Taunton, Sedgefield etc. 39 runners in 7 races at Ascot is not a one-off, it's the norm! . Time to reward Courses that can attract big fields and proportionately decent local Attendances, let them enjoy the Top Class Horses!

The only decent size big field Handicap to attack today is at Haydock, we've a couple of Pointers elsewhere. There aren't even many Trackers today either. Thankfully, we do have some far more interesting and competitive Sunday action to look forward to at Cork and Punchestown and Uttoxeter and especially Exeter.
