Saturday 20th April

Decent placed runs at Ayr from Whistle Stop Tour 12/1 SP and Shoeshine Boy 10/1 sp yesterday and a cracking effort from Brandy McQueen at 66/1 SP to finish far closer to a place than the price suggested. On the flip side a desperately disappointing and frustrating outcome at Exeter, inexplicably so to be honest.

The Feature Race today is the Scottish Grand National which headlines an excellent Card at Ayr with the Trainers Championship as a sideshow, Mullins has sent over the Utility Room sink, if not the Kitchen sink, but Skelton and Nicholls won't go down without a fight. I do personally feel sorry though for those Trainers who would have plotted a run in some of these races, especially the Scottish National, who may have been balloted out as a result of Mullins running 6 horses, some of whom have very little quantifiable form above 3 miles, but that I guess is the nature of the beast currently.

There is a cracking Newbury Card too and good options at The Curragh, Thirsk, Brighton and Nottingham and Bangor. We WON'T be shy again this summer when we feel the Feature races are too tough or uninspiring of looking elsewhere IF we think there are winners to be had. WE'll focus on the big race at Ayr, the big Handicap at Newbury, but also take in a second decent Handicap that closes the Newbury Card and a competitive Handicap on the Evening Card at Ayr. We'll keep a close eye on The Curragh today with a view to some tips from there tomorrow, when we have 5 decent Meetings to attack. More news too tomorrow on the NEW methodology and concept that we will be introducing in 9 days time from the 29th April.
