Royal Ascot Day 3 - Thursday 19th June

A couple of winners yesterday at single figure prices and a couple place, the day undoubtedly though belonged to John + Thady Gosden, and whilst I can't yet really work out what Thady does (he won't be the first son of a famous father trainer to define a role initially) the fact is that since the demise of dear old Sir Henry Cecil, I have regarded Gosden as not only his natural successor as the best UK based Trainer but also as simply a very decent and genuine person.

Day 3 sees a frankly disappointing Gold Cup Entry of just 8 horses, the usual Stakes races and a trip of Handicaps, of which the 3.05 and 5.00 are same age 3 year races and the 6.10 Buckingham Palace Stakes an all aged 7 furlong burn-up which looks a real battle between promise and experience. The Draw bias on the straight Course is quite clearIy I feel;  more about "pace" and it was interesting yesterday in the Royal Hunt cup that we successfully highlighted My Cloud drawn high, but also clearly rated the actual form of the runner up drawn low very strongly. I think that run can be marked up.
