Friday 20th JUne - Royal Ascot - Day 4

La Botte was our 3rd slightly unlucky runner up of the week and whilst we'll never bemoan bad luck as it will always even out, had those 3 just finished a collective 2 lengths further forwards we'd be celebrating a very decent 3 days so far. That's racing however and there are still 2 days to find some big priced winners.

The sight of the very high drawn numbers dominating the last 2 big field handicaps on the Straight course yesterday will have been something of a "doomsday" scenario for Clerk Of The Course chris Stickels, who I believe is both an excellent Clerk of the Course and also a very decent and sensible person. The obvious temptation is to give the middle and far side a bit of extra water, but you have to then consider the impact on the Round Course once they turn in. Pace was a big factor until those two final races, but I'm very mindful, in fact very very mindful, that we don't just chuck out high drawn numbers on the Straight Course just for the sake of it.

It's important, I've always felt, to try to explain our logic, so that even if you don't agree with it, you can at least understand what we are trying to achieve.

With that in mind, 2 main TIP RACES today, the 3.40 on the ROUND Course over 12 furlongs and the 6.10 on the STRAIGHT Course over 5 furlongs, quite simply, I believe that the Draw bias over the shortest trip will less of a factor than early pace and therefore the opportunity to win, IF the high bias continues is more evenly spread. That's the logic, hopefully it works out.

In compiling the Placepot which I have done (in conjunction with horses from tip races from other tipsters) all week, I think I may have found some each way value in some of the other races, so a further 5 horses are listed today in 3 of the other races as "each way bets" with the logic provided.
