Chester 3.45

Chester 3.45 - Class 3 - Handicap - 1 mile 2 furlongs - Good to Soft - 14 run

There are a few in here with very solid Course and Distance form and the only niggle is their high draw. Over this trip however I think they have time and space to sort themselves out a bit more and scope to  have tactical options whether they ping the stalls or not. Running prominently remains the best option here but as we saw yesterday it's vital to get that pace right and if you don't it's possible for a hold up horse to sling wide down the middle off the bend or to use the cutaway and go down the far rail in the final furlong.

At the head of the market are a few with little or no Course form and of them Spirit Dancer from the Fahey yard who has won of soft, had a run and gets what could be a plum draw in Stall 2, would seem to be the one they all have to beat, but the Odds look restrictive for each way purposes and there may be better punting value at bigger prices. Of the bigger priced horses I've a hunch that Zambezi Magic could outrun big Odds from Stall 5 but not quite confident enough to tip it but if you are looking for a fun quid each way on something may give you a good run for your money.

I really narrowed it down to a final 3 horses.

KRYPTOS from the John Berry yard, has had a run and ran very fresh so will have benefitted from it. Certain to have been targeted at this race after a couple of excellent Course runs, Going should be fine and no excuses with the handicap mark, that niggle is Stall 11 but Berry is amongst the most intelligent men on the planet let alone in horse racing so I'm sure they'll have a plan!

BARYSHNIKOV is another with Course and Distance winning form who has had the benefit of a run and who looks targeted at the race. A draw in Stall 3 just gets it the nod over SNOW QUEEN from the David Evans yard who has won his last 2 races at Chester off 74 and 81 and who gets James Doyle help today off a mark of 84. The decision to decide with BARYSHNIKOV down to the draw and fact Snow Queen could have done without the rain.
