We'll be tracking a lot of these before May is out I'm 100% sure.

 

It's all about what is fit enough to deliver today, what will be better later in the season and which have physically improved over the summer.

 

I could make cases (some would say excuses) for many but lets focus on those I really fancy today.

 

CHANGING COLOURS looks a very solid win banker for the Appleby team and it's hard to see if not being right in contention. With that side bet made I'm looking for some each way value.

 

FERROUS for Jack Channon whose horse placed for us yesterday looks primed following a warm up and should get a nice tow into the race and looks very solid here. California Gem has Course form and a run already and was strongly considered and there are 3 others to note.

 

GRACE ANGEL @ 40/1 is the most likely pace angle and can and has made all over 5 furlongs, the step up in trip looks sensible based on pedigree and they go for Blinkers. I can see this one leading them right into the dip and IF it can pick up and run from there could take a hell of a lot of catching and hang on for a place at big odds. Ideal for a small e/w shrapnel bet especially if there is a tail wind! and listen for someone like Jason Weaver to mention that on ITV 4 if you want a lite tickle!

 

I think that YACOWLEF @ 22/1 is over-priced for Paul Cole and his son, he won in pleasing fashion last season is on a static mark and unlike many in this race didn't suffer a hefty penalty for that 2 year old win that may take a while as a 3 year old to get back to a realistic mark from. The other one that intrigues me is the Fahey horse INSTALLATION. He would have had a number to pick from for the race so the Entry is a tip in itself. INSTALLATION ran very green and quirky on a few occasions it ran last year yet still managed to win a race. Reports passed on by our Northern Expert suggest the horse has physically and mentally matured over the winter and  could be a marked improver.  I think we'll know after the preliminaries but a small e/w is advised.
