A competitive Handicap over almost 3 miles. A few bring penalties and significant weight rises in to the race after a decent summer campaign. The one that stands out for me though is JACK DEVINE from the Rose Dobbin yard that was a rich seam of profit for me last winter, and one of a few I will follow again with interest. Jack Devine had facile Course wins off marks of 108 and 117 earlier in the summer here, was then upped in Class and ran off a mark of 133, was going very well and in contention until pecking at the bottom of the straight and immediately eased. The way it travelled that day suggests a mark of 132 and this Class in not beyond it, and I think it is way too long in the market when you look at the scope it has against horses like Justatenner; Rolling Maul; Nautical Nitwit, who may all now be in the grip of the handicapper and somewhat exposed horses. Jack Devine comes off an 80 day break, that's a small niggle so one I will track on, but has run well fresh before and earlier very progressive P2P form indicates trip, Going and time of the season are not in any way negative, With enhanced to 4th place Odds with 4 Bookies, I will have a poke today and certainly on my 10 to Follow list.
