This is a tricky and competitive race with 4 last time out winners and the likes of Dr Robin off a dangerous handicap mark. Having looked at the race though, a number come back out within the 21 day threshold that I would apply to the Firm Going / Hot weather issues I discussed at length yesterday. So; I looked for something fit but considerably fresher. Having set such a parameter there is a danger that you find a round peg to fit a square hole and try to force something to fit the criteria. We shall see. The horse who most fits the criteria and with enough form reasons to be of interest is CHATO. He has recently moved from Alan King to David Pipe, had a wind op a while back (2 runs since) and at 19k was not cheap in the context of what he has achieved. I have looked back at races and comments and more than once the comment "will be better when over 3 miles" has been made. Whereas Alan King never tried 3 miles, David Pipe does so immediately and in the booking of Tom Scudamore, a jockey who looks likely to try to exploit that suggestion and to race sensibly but prominently. It may not get 3 miles, but at the price and off what looks like a nice handicap mark and with Pipe exploiting a new angle, time for a dabble.
