Thursday 6th September

At CARLISLE in the 6.00, I think Rasheeq will need more rain and should be tracked and backed on soft next time out off a declining mark. Lucky Beggar could set the race up for something with a bit more stamina and that could be GIANT SPARK. It ideally needs some cut but has won on Good to Firm and this won't be anything like that jarring. It rose in the weights from 58 to 89 and has come back down to a level of 68, where it should be very competitive and I fancy it to place at the very least.

In the 7.30 at Carlisle the obvious one to me is CRUSHED. It did well with William Haggas winning a 10 furlong Handicap off a mark of 70. It then went to Alan King winning a small Hurdle race over 2 miles + but not really looking like a natural over Fences has been picked up by Mark Walford. On the basis of the Haggas 10f win and the winning form over Hurdles, the mark tonight and the trip of 11 furlongs up the steep climb look tailor made for a bold run. I have to point out MISSCARLET and MISTER SUNDOWNER in this race available at 40/1 and 50/1 with PADDY POWER at 7.45am - I have had a few quid on both. Missscarlet needed seasonal debut, won on soft at Pontefract last year over 10 furlongs and although the mark here may be a bit high is one I definitely want to TRACK. Same applies to Mister Sundowner, who went 1-3-1-1-2 last year off 54-58-56-58-69. Has had 2 last places since a break, off 69 less a 5lbs Claim here, and once that mark comes down below 60, you would have to be VERY interested. At the prices I will have a bit of loose change, but both look primed to win in next 6-8 weeks!
