At EPSOM 3.40 the rain should help WHINGING WILLIE who won for us here on 1st October last year in heavy Going at 14/1, staying on well to the line. He has not been in great form so far this season but showed a bit more last time. The obvious danger is Pretty Jewel but that  is no value and at 12/1 early WW is below its last win mark; and one of the more capable Amateur Jocks is booked by Gary Moore. A sporting punt.

At CHEPSTOW in the 4.20, our old friend CAPTAIN SEDGWICK, in whom we used to own a share has a good chance of another Course and Distance win but I can't recall John (Spearing) ever confirming the horse would like soft Going and with a recent win and slightly increased mark, I will leave her this time, although if you could get 5/1 or more may be worth a small side stake. Eternal Destiny shaped with promise last time but this Course and Going will be new territory and Peachey Carnehan would be much  more strongly fancied at 6 furlongs, but was considered. We will though give a final another to BARISTA. Ladbrokes and Coral go odds to 4th and most Bookies go 20/1 on this horse (14 or more is value). It has good Course form, National Hunt form on Heavy and Flat form on soft, and a slow start may not be a bad thing here if the go off too quickly and tire later on. Just looks it may be "the day" for a type that wins in turn
