LCS 1-4

HAMILTON 4.30 7 Lydiate Lady - each way @ 10/1 - 1/4 point each way -: is on a winning mark, like most of Trainer Eric Alston's string prefers Autumn (and Spring) Going with some cut. Takes a drop from Class 4, where it has run consistently in conditions not ideally suited, and drops to Class 5 here with Going ideal and from what be a good draw, with an excellent jockey booked. Alston is "in form" one of those who simply shuts up shop when conditions are not helpful and no surprise at all to anyone with any understanding of Flat Racing that he is running in to form at a time of season when he always have fresh fit ammunition ready to fire.

LEICESTER 5.20 10 Stosur - each way @ 14/1 - 1/4 point each way -: Gay Kelleway is another shrewd Trainer wo will always keep a few back for an Autumn campaign. Stosur is normally seen on the AW but if you look closely enough, runs well and consistently up to a mark on rare forays on to Turf and form on genuinely Good and Good to Soft is actually a bit eye catching. The horse was runner up off a mark of 73 at Bath in a Class 4 a little over a year ago, and repeated that position more recently at Chepstow off today's mark of 61. With a 3lbs Claimer booked today and with 4 of the stables last 8 runners placing; no excuses and in a typical mish mash of exposed and moderate horses, the form angles on this type of Going suggest that 14/1 - particularly with 3 main Bookies enhancing to 4 places look generous.

So a small 1/4 point mention on both, a sporting bet, on a day of poor quality action overall.

We have some typical low grade end of season Flat fare at Hamilton and Leicester today and AW fare at Kempton and Newcastle, plus a Flat Irish Card. The Tracker is lit up with moderate Class 5/6 performers who have caught the eye over the season, but frankly, very little stands anything like close scrutiny when you look at conditions today.

The likes of Geoff Potts and Someone Exciting in the 2.00 at Hamilton and Little Pippin and Jack Blaine in the 3.00 at the same venue, might make small reverse Forecast "fun bets"; and Signor Piccolo in the 3.50 and Bombshell Bay in the 3.20 at Leicester also warranted a second look, but can't be considered with enough confidence. We did though identify 2 who look very well handicapped from Yards that are always worth following in the Autumn, and at odds that really do look like value, warrant a 1/4 point each way.
