Wincanton 2.25

Wincanton 2.25 - There are a few in here who are quite tough to fathom, Belmount may have needed a break before poor last run and could revive but I think one of those Autumn specialists Twiston-Davies readies for that part of the season. Garrane has solid place chances but the odds are not that appealing for a horse likely to be involved but who finds it hard to win. The biggest danger could be LEN BRENNAN a pair of runs in very small fields is not at first glance that appealing, but winners of those races have franked the form at the weekend. The concern is "how valid is the collateral form to Len Brennan as small field races can be run at very false pace and not always reflective of margins involved in full on full pelt races. I would not be surprised to see Len win but will play it in a Tricast Perm with my 2 ultimate selections.

POTTERS CORNER stormed to form here last time from an in-form Yard who have made great strides this year. The current form is something not many in the field have, the horse is still below its best winning mark and a repeat of that last win would see it right in contention. DANCING SHADOW is more speculative but the horse has won races at 2 miles and 5 furlongs and 4 miles plus off marks of 131 and 132, has taken time to find form this season but has a better cv than almost all of these in terms of handicap ceiling and quality of race it has run in, and the price is too appealing to ignore. Off a mark of 127, with a vastly under-rated jockey up, I can't resist a nibble.
