Thirsk 3.30

Thirsk 3.30 7 Clear Spring @ 9/1 / 6 Giant Spark @ 16/1 - both each way

We all have our favourite horses and CLEAR SPRING is one of mine, last May it was
a very confident tip when winning at 25/1. We subsequently bought a share in two horses with John Spearing
and I have followed his horses since and the likes of Barton Gift over the Jumps have given a couple of big wins.
It is easy to get a bit blinkered but I think CLEAR SPRING is incredibly well handicapped here. Dropped in Class;
if you ignore the last run at Epsom it was unlucky in running at both Goodwood and Newbury off 93 and 95 in Class
2 races, it gets a nice draw here (if the draw bias holds up) and down in Class 3 off a mark of 86 with a very decent
5lbs claim too, it has to have an outstanding chance. I would again say about this yard that I have NO inside angle/info;
but, John does not venture up North too often, last time he came here he had a  winner, it is a small yard and he will
also be stretched logistically ; by the fact they send 2 to Kempton tonight (both with place chances by the way) so it all

points to a bold plan, and I also have a hunch they have go so far North for a bit of cut in the ground.

The draw bias at Thirsk was high for decades but has occasionally swung very low, I like to hedge my bets
on such occasions IF there is something of value and note and one such horse is GIANT SPARK; a poor
start to the summer but his Trainer has sparked to life over the past 2-3 weeks and it would not be a giant shock
to see a bold run from this horse off this mark IF the draw gives it a fighting chance.
