Friday 8th December Patent Bet

The Patent

I looked at a few races today and a few things jumped off the page at me!

In the 1.35 at Exeter BILLY DUTTON is on an incredibly lenient mark; missed last year after a bad fall at Cheltenham
but travelled really well until eased on seasonal reappearance. He may need the run but this mark is just too good to

ignore as is his excellent CD form

In the 3.15 my favourite horse BARTON GIFT. He won twice for us last season at good odds. My favourite horse because;
I have been to the Yard (have a share in a couple there); met him and know how much John (Spearing) loves him. He loves
his food and his summer break and comes in "fat and lazy" Trainers words last summer. He usually needs 2 runs to really
get fit but it intrigues me that there are 3-4 here who will get on with it and a load who will be in "virgin territory" at the bottom
of the hill second time. BARTON GIFT is all about rhythm and pace-making. He does not like to run "amongst horses"; if he
can be up near the front, he can go well for a long way. He may get taken on by Rigadin De Beauchene and
Unmberto D'Olivate; that is a worry, but at 40/1 worth a small flutter. Once I have identified these 2 Exeter runners I

noted Bryony Frost is on both, well, you can't resist a flutter knowing that can you??

At Sandown in the 2.30 I think the PFN horse Dynamite Dollars is well worth a small investment at 12/1; hated Going last

time, previously run well and PFN very shrewd I think in quickly going up in trip, 12/1 looks excessive.

Those are my thoughts today, don't have more than 50p e/w unit on the Patent it is a "fun bet" but the form logic is there!
