Exeter 3.05

Exeter 3.05 Exeter Handicap Chase Class 3 over 3 Miles 7 furlongs. 12 run.

With some heavy overnight rain this is sure to be a slog in the mud, so lets just hope that "low sun" doesn't spoil the nature of the race by taking several fences out.

A number of the 12 runners have barely been beyond 3 miles and therefore you have to take a lot on trust in terms of stamina. A plodder who plods on at 3 miles may be a Stayer but more often than not just an out and out plodder, and there are a few who have proven stamina at further to focus on.

Of those with stamina to prove the best option may be Nativegetaway from the Tizzard yard and that's one to keep a longer term eye on whatever happens today. Of the complete outsiders, Bill and Barn had some decent 3m P2P form when trained by Barber then Paul Nicholls, has lost any semblance of that form since, but in a field lacking massive depth, the 40/1 might be worth a very small interest with Schofield an interesting jockey booking.

I think Petit Power is just too short in the market, so I will focus on DANCING SHADOW, LORD GETAWAY and MUSTMEETALADY.

Dancing Shadow and Lord Getaway are closely matched in the market and both hold very strong claims. If I had to go for one over the other it would be DANCING SHADOW who is fit, has proven form (runner up) over this Course and Distance and clearly likes the undulations of the Course. Lord Getaway has won for us before, is OK at 3 and a half miles but just lacks the Course experience.

The each way value of the threesome may be MUSTMEETALADY who is also race fit, has run well too over 3 1/2 miles and who has form in soft/heavy ground too in the past. I like an idea of a Tricast with the 3 and a WIN BET/E/W saver (your choice) on DANCING SHADOW and an each way bet on MUSTMEETALADY

Tips - DANCING SHADOW + MUSTMEETALADY - Tricast Perm Lord Getaway (a few bob on Bill and Barn)
