Ayr 5.35

Ayr 5.35 - Class 5 - 1 mile 5 furlongs Handicap - 15 run - Good to Soft - Soft in places

A very difficult puzzle with some of the local Yards with a couple of runners to complicate matters.

Firlinfeu seems to have attracted some support, a winner off 67 for Mark Johnson, went to Ireland and has returned to Jim Golden and won off 62, a Course winner bu the step up in trip is a niggling doubt.

Four Kingdoms is a huge danger, a Course and Distance winner, nice mark, looks primed to run a big race, just the doubt that the Going may not be quite Firm enough and that alone just keeps it out of the final selections. Three Castles too looks primed for this for Keith Dalgleish, a Course winner just enough concern about the handicap mark and trip, but definitely one for the notebooks if mark reduces and they try shorter next time. Splinter a progressive 3 year old upped in trip by Fahey comes with all the usual good markers from that yard and one not left out lightly.

That leaves MAULSEDEN MAY a 3 time Course winner, who drops to possibly optimum trip here. I'm intrigued by the booking of Joe Fanning by Dalgleish and I have a view they will try to make it a stamina test and the horse is off a very appealing handicap mark. The other selection is VINTAGE ROSE, who will have benefitted from recent run, off a very nice handicap mark and if tuned up should easily outrun these very generous Odds.
