Beverley 3.15

SP2A Elite Service - Saturday 9th June - Beverley 3.15 Hilary Needler Fillies Stakes.

It is a strange day of racing tomorrow, perhaps reflective of the space between Epsom and Royal Ascot and I toyed with this race and the big Sprint at Musselburgh. The more I looked though at this 2 year old race, the more exposed the 2 favourites looked and the more interested the 2 main selections became.

8 KODYANNA - 1 point each way @ 7/1
5 GOOD TYNE GIRL - 1 point each way @ 9/1

9 LADY PRANCELOT - 1/2 point each way @ 25/1 (Coral + BV) 20/1 generally.

The 2 selections are both trained by Richard Fahey and drawn in Stall 6 and Stall 1 respectively. A low draw and a decent break are vital here and both horses have run well on debut and in the case of Good Tyne Girl won second time out. As is often the case with Fahey runners as 2 year old's both looked to have scope and likely to improve further still.

KODYANNA was third on debut, ran green and got the hand of things late on, an expensive purchase by the Yards usual standards, it is probable that the early season preparation has been all about this race and we have to remember that Fahey will have had plenty to chose from. The draw gives it an ideal chance to get a bit of cover and strike up the hill.

GOOD TYNE GIRL also finished 3rd on debut and then won next time out at Leicester improving on debut and another that looks to have plenty of scope to improve. Drawn in Stall 1 it should race very prominently and the yards 2 year olds are generally fit and tough.

The "mention" horse will be LADY PRANCELOT, comes from a prolific 2 year old sire whose progeny tend to be best as juveniles, has the experience of a few runs and when winning ran and won from the front. The yard can ready a 2 year old for an early campaign and although odds are only to 3rd place; front rank would seem the place to be and this one should give us a great run for our money.

The 2 market leaders are Johnson Trained NO LIPPY who has won 3 times already and is effectively a winner without a penalty here (all horses carry 8.12) but could be one that has less scope than the others and Stall 12 certainly will take "luck in running" to win from. The Hannon runner WEDDING DATE has a kinder draw in Stall 5, win nicely at Chester but disappointed at Sandown next time, a similar "rising finish" and I would say the Yard would have best 2 year olds lined up for Royal Ascot and not Beverley.

There may well be something "lurking and trained for this" but I am more than happy that the draw has been kind to my selections and confident of a net profit.

NEXT ELITE TIPS - Tuesday 19th June

I will be away next Saturday for a break; to show off the new arrival to enlarged family now that a few weeks have passed, so I will be back for ALL 5 DAYS of The Royal Ascot meeting with one selected race each day from Tuesday 19th June and  I gather that 2017 Royal Ascot was staggeringly good for ELITE SERVICE so will be doing plenty of preparation, especially once we know what the weather/Going may be.

Have a great week until a week on Tuesday.

All The Best
